Botlane Tournament

Tournament on hold until 25 May at the earliest.  I just don't have time to do it right now (SNSS, casting Go4LoL, reporting on LCS, and trying to move to Santa Monica...).  I might cast scrims sometime, there will be a post on /r/summonerschool if that happens.

All FAQ are actually answered in this page!!  Please read it before asking me!

What is this tournament?

It's a botlane tournament, which means that teams consist of two players, who play an ADC and a support.  And it's an instructional tournament, which means that it's for players who are trying to improve their botlane play.  Games will be cast by shoutcasters who will analyze mistakes that are made and suggest ways that players can improve their play.

Can I join?

Sure!  You just need to have a level 20 + NA account (level 30 preferred)

When is it?

Saturdays, from 1pm to 7pm PST.

Why that list of supports?

I had to draw a line somewhere, so I'm allowing the champions that I assume will be supports if I see them first-picked by the enemy team in a draft game.

What are the rules?

All disputes will be resolved by the Tournament Director (RheingoldRiver).

If you have any questions about any of these rules, you should direct them to the tournament director.

REGISTRATION AND SCHEDULING

Registration is first-come, first-serve, with priority to level 30 summoners and to players who have not participated/won before.  The bracket will close at 16 teams/32 players but there will be a wait list for people who don't initially get into the bracket.

No one who is involved with administering the tournament may sign up as a player.

The bracket will be single-elimination.  Initial seeds will be pseudorandom, in that teams of similar Elo will be paired against each other for the first round.  In the event that byes need to be handed out, they will be distributed randomly.

In the event that one of the players is more than 5 minutes late for a match, the other team gets to decide whether they want first or second pick; if players from both teams are more than 5 minutes late for a match, then whoever arrives first makes this decision.

In the event that one or more of the players is more than 10 minutes late for a match, that team forfeits the match.  If a player on each team is more than 10 minutes late, a winner will be decided randomly.

If you need to use a sub for one or more of the rounds, that's fine; however, the sub can't be a part of any other team and can't sub for more than a single team.

IN-GAME RULES

Picks and bans will be done in chat in the loading screen of a tournament-draft custom game.  Bans are ordered AB (one ban per team, two bans total) and then picks are ordered ABBA.  Pick order will be decided randomly.

The winner of the match is determined by who has the most points at 20 minutes, where points are 1 * ADC total gold earned + .8 * Support total gold earned.  In the unlikely event of a tie, the winner will be chosen based on which ADC has more gold.

Neither team may take any jungle at any time for any reason.  Neither team may take CS or experience from midlane or toplane at any time.  If a turret in another lane gets pushed by minions, each member of the team that benefited must buy two sight wards and place them in the well to nullify the gold advantage.  This gold will  not count towards total points.

Gold from botlane turrets does count toward your points and may be spent on items.

Each team must pick one allowed AD Carry and one allowed support.  The list of allowed AD Carries is: Ashe, Caitlyn, Corki, Draven, Ezreal, Graves, Kennen, Kog’Maw, Miss Fortune, Quinn, Sivir, Tristana, Twitch, Urgot, Varus, Vayne. The list of allowed supports is: Alistar, Blitzcrank, Janna, Leona, Lulu, Nami, Nunu, Sona, Soraka, Taric, Thresh, Zyra.

In the event of a player disconnecting from a match, a team may pause the game, but the pause may not last for any longer than 5 minutes, and once a team has paused for a cumulative 5 minutes, they may no longer pause the game.

If you are for some reason unable to reconnect to the game, you may petition the other team to remake the game.  They are under no obligation to do so, but they can if they want.  In the case that this happens, your game may not be shoutcasted due to scheduling restrictions.  Instead, an admin will be found to spectate the game and submit a screenshot of the score screen at 20 minutes to the tournament director.

Teams may surrender after 10 minutes but are encouraged not to and instead practice playing from behind.  If you wish to surrender, type "We surrender" in allchat.  Typing "gg" does not constitute a surrender.

Games may be streamed by anyone who’s playing in them and should be streamed by a shoutcaster.

You ARE allowed to ghost my stream during your games.

PRIZES

Two Arcade Sona skin codes will be given out to the winning team or to the highest-placing team that doesn't have a gold+ player on it, in the event that a team with a gold+ player wins.  There will be a tiebreaker match or matches if necessary.  Prizes will be given out within 48 hours of the end of the tournament, but not within 24 hours in case there are disputes.

If you have won this tournament in the past, then you are NOT eligible for prizes in the future.  In the case that a team wins the tournament more than once, prizes will be given to the highest-placing team that has not won in the past, with a tiebreaker to be played if necessary.

Remember, this is intended to be a casual, instructional, and fun tournament.
